Written to escape a a compositional stump, "Fanfare for Trombone Octet" is an exploration of rhythmic ideas and the way instruments can interact with each other in a larger chamber ensemble. I wanted to write something fun and dynamic, something quick and versatile, and something to get me out of my compositional rut. The piece was a fun exploration of the trombone, exploring it's extended range, its incredible versatility, and all that you can do with the instrument.
